Toledo offers many things to do and this zoo is one of the best in the Midwest. It is easy to find and parking is plentiful. | ||
Review: by Mom
I've been visiting this zoo since I was a little girl. I think the staff does a good job caring for the animals, and this is evidenced by the robust reproductive rates of the animals there. The two that we have enjoyed the most have been the baby giraffe and the baby hippo.
My favorite exhibit here for years on end has been the big apes. The gorillas, orangutans, and chimpanzees have all surprised us with interaction over our many visits. The smaller primates are very entertaining as well, especially the young; they pick on their older companions without mercy, prompting screeching, chasing and other antics that never fail to please.
Don't hesitate to visit the Toledo Zoo in the winter; animals tend to be more active and their "Zoo Lights" display at Christmastime is a treat. I also advise lunch in the Carnivore Cafe: it's fun to sit in an old lion's cage and have your meal. Always rent a wagon when visiting with small kids.

Dad: This is a great zoo. I personally love the Hippoquarium. The kids squealed with laughter when the Hippos "muddied the water." The aquarium is also fun, with great opportunities to see a wobbegong and bioluminescent flashlight fish.
