One of many great museums in Chicago |

Review: by Sam
When I went to the Museum of Science and Industry I was amazed. There are real planes hanging from the ceiling and a jet you can walk into. There are also trains, cars, and a real WWII submarine, complete with torpedoes.
I only have one extra recommendation-----DO NOT TRY TO SEE THE WHOLE MUSUEM IN ONE DAY. This would be impossible.
Also, the Rube Goldberg machine near the entrance is amazing.

Dad: I agree that this will not be a place you should try to push through. The museum is amazing, and the items are great. I have never taken the time to wait in line for the coal mine. The word is you need to be at the museum when it opens, and immediately go to stand in line. It is supposed to be fantastic, but with kids along, and so many cool things to see it is hard to wait in line. The Rube Goldberg machine and the water works are great for younger kids. Also there is something cool in each of the stairwells. My personal favorite is the huge pendulum. One quick tip: Educators may get in free; bring your school ID along.
Mom: As the only girl in my testosterone-laden family, I must put in my $.02 about Colleen Moore's dollhouse. My mother had a book about it when I was a girl, and I found it's opulence and sheer size fascinating. It is about 8 x 8 x 8 and full of professionally designed miniatures. The completed castle cost Moore, a Depression-era actress, almost $500,000. It took me several trips to Chicago as an adult before I discovered that it was housed here. A visit to the Fairy Castle is as good to me as a trip to the American Girl Store!
Historical Note: This is one of the few buildings remaining from the Columbian Exposition of 1893.
