This is a fun place to visit. It is as close as you can get to Europe in North America. The Archeological Digs are fun to observe.

Review: by Dad

This is one of my favorite places in North America. My wife and I spent a few days here in the walled city before we were married. It holds a lot of good memories, and some funny stories about mis-translation. We went as a family on the way back from Tadoussac.

Honestly, there is not a lot of science here. It is a World Heritage Site for cultural reasons. But, as with many things, there is science to be found. The archeological digs located on the river side of the city are interesting. That said though, the reason to stop here is the history.

This is a French speaking city, but because of the large number of tourists, most of the people working here speak English also. There were even some that were even a few that spoke Japanese and Spanish. If you are worried about not being able to function here, don't. I have no problems here and my French is limited to about 10 words that I slaughter every time I open my mouth. My wife laughs every time I try to communicate in French.

The walled city is full of many interesting streets and shops. Look back into some of the alleys for really interesting architecture. A city this old is full of life and quirky little places. It is a great place to walk around. Along with this you can find different foods and drinks than are available in the United States. One of my favorites is Aux Anciens Canadiens, which is in a house that dates back to 1676. Not many houses this old remain anywhere in North America. (Lunch is much cheaper than dinner.)

Additional Review:

Sam: "Make sure you stop in to get some crepes. There are many creperies here. We went to the one right behind The Chateau Frontenac . The crepes there were wonderful. They ranged from sweet ones with fruit and or chocolate to some with ham and chese or vegetables. All of our family ordered different ones and we got to taste them all. They were all good!"
