One of the trully great National Parks. A great place to visit, especially on hot days.

Review: by Sam

The Mammoth Caves are by far the largest caves I have ever visited. In fact they are the longest known caves in the world. They stretch nearly 500 miles from end to end, and over 360 miles of the caves have been explored. People are constantly finding more caves here.

The caverns are massive. In some places a 20 story building would fit from the floor to the roof. These caves are true marvels of the natural world. Some of the cave tours can be very tiring, so if you are traveling with anyone below the age of 8, I would recommend no tours over 2 hours long.

We went to Mammoth Cave on spring break and it was very cold that day. I think it dropped down to 35 degrees. It was the only time I went into a cave and it was warmer than outside.

Additional Review:

Will:  The cave crickets were cool. I can't believe I did not see them until the ranger pointed them out to us.

Mom: My favorite part is when they turn off the lights for just a minute. It shows you what "DARK" really means.

Dad:  Don't overdo it with young ones. Check out all of the tours online; they give recommendations for ages and physical abilities. You can also reserve tickets online, which is a great time savings. I highly recommend it.
