Review: by Dad
We had heard of the Exploratorium before we went to San Francisco, so when we got there with the whole family it was a no brainer to go there. It did not disappoint. This is the best hands-on science facility in the United States.
The building and grounds are a lot of fun. The building is a big old warehouse looking thing. It is huge and open with two floors in some places, and other places just tall space. The grounds are in a park, and we spent some time blowing off steam there before we got back in the car.
The Exploratorium has great things to do pertaining to light, electricity, weather, plants, life, genetics, sound, water, pretty much everything. Our favorites were the giant spirograph, and the color wall. We have some great memories of creating tornadoes in the building, and watching minature earthquakes. Being San Francisco, we were glad they were only the demonstrations, not the real thing.
Make sure you hit the web site before you go to find out what special exhibits are happening. If I remember correctly, parking was a little tight there, so you may want to look at public transportation. If not, give yourself some extra time to find parking. Plan at least 3 hours here, more would be good. This is a place where you can have fun the whole day.

Sam: We had a lot of fun here. There was so much to do we did not get through the whole museum.
