Great museum of art. A nice stop if your family would like to see some very famous paintings. |

This is one of the best art museums in the United States.
The Art Institute of Chicago is a great museum to see if you are in the area. It is close to the Museum Campus which includes the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium.
This is one of the best art museums I have been to. I wouldn't bring anyone under the age of 10 as they may get bored (unless they are really into art). It is a wonderful museum with a collection of art encompassing almost every time period and culture. It houses some very important paintings including A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat, American Gothic by Grant Wood, Time Transfixed by Rene Magritte, and Nighthawks by Edward Hopper. The collection also includes furniture, clocks, armor and weapons.
The Art Institute of Chicago has just opened a new section in May 16, 2009. It will house the Modern Art collection. This addition makes Chicago's Art Institute the second largest art museum in the country.
Additional Review:
Dad: After living in Washington D.C. for 3 years, and getting used to having the Smithsonian Art museums a short metro ride away, this is a welcome visit. We live about 3 hours from the Art Institute and it is a world-class collection. Park under Michigan Avenue, the entrance is in the middle of the street.
Will: I liked the armor!
