Review: by Mom
This is an interesting national park that is focused on the bay and the nearby coral reefs. The volunteers have great information and are interesting to talk to. We actually came here looking for a place to swim and were told that there is no swimming in the bay due to the presence of both alligators and crocodiles. Most of the park is accessible only by boat. There are inexpensive kayak and canoe rentals available at the park office. Every day there are glass-bottom boat tours and snorkel expeditions to the coral reef on the east side of Harris Key. When we were there they were both midday, but you may want to call ahead or check the website to see the exact times.
The nature trail along the bay was nice, well-groomed, and easy to navigate. We were able to see quite a few interesting fish, lizards, and a good sized blue crab.
If you are looking for a swimming spot, it is available at the county park next door.

Sam: “I had a great time looking at and photographing the fossil coral that is present throughout the rocks at Biscayne Bay. To the left is a fossilized brain coral."
